Magic Jack will save you countless amounts of money on phone service. Usually when you see things online they offer only “half of the hype” but Magic jack is a rare case where you get more than you bargain for. Total 5 stars for this incredible product.
Here is a little history I found: Another upstart has crashed into the world of telephones, selling calls so cheaply it would seem no incumbent can compete. The magicJack website looks like a carnival, and inventor Dan Borislow can sound like a carnival barker. But his $40 device is selling fast with its promise of a year of unlimited calls anywhere in the United States. "We're now the largest telephone company out there," Borislow boasts with typical lack of restraint. He's referring to magicJack's availability in all 50 states, with phone numbers offered in about 80 percent of area codes—claims that even AT&T can't make.

This is not a scam, We are retired and need to save all we can. We only live on SSI . So we decided to give it a try, Well it's the best thing since Bread was invented. You have to have high speed internet, And you have to leave your computer on, But folks this works. You have nothing to lose. I went to magicjack.com and it says 30 day money back garrante, So we thought what do we have to lose. Well the next day after reciving the jack, I stoped my phone service. It's been 3 mo. and we love it. we may have a droped call now and then, but our cell phone does too. and we are paying 18.99 a year, and saving 29.00 + tax a mo.
I have used magic jack for my home and business for 6 months and they have worked great. It is not a scam, but DOES have some dropped calls. All in all I have found this to be a great service. After calls all over the country I have never been interrupted to call a magic jack number due to excess minutes. Buy one today
MagicJack is not a scam. It is not the best phone service in the world but it basically works. You get a lot for the price you pay. Again, not perfect, but it works.

so if u think its a scam, its not, if you watch the news, and u realize that if this had came out durin bush's era, then it would have been suspicious, but since it came out in obama, the guy who kept most of bush, i can gurantee its not of the EXTREMITY but still, it will record. they cannot "share" even tho they do, ur phone record wit gov, but wit this, anythin can be done. anyways think bout it if u want, or do research on it, w/e makes u happy durin a time of depression... not recession

mine lasted for a year and now it says starting please wait and won't load the contact list either, although it's a problem it's only 20 dollars a year compared to how ever many hundreds a year you'll pay for any phone service so I think I'll just spend the extra 20 dollars from all the hundreds I've saved and just go buy another one.

I tried to use the phone after long time and had the same problem. I contacted their support via chat and it turned out that my license had expired. I paid on line, and it started immediately. Chat support was pretty good.
Compare value VS cost and it has the best ratio.
MagicJack doesn't work in Brooklyn, NY from 5pm to 8pm every day. When people call me, it tells "server is busy". When I try to call, it has busy signal.
A friend who *must* have uninterrupted phone service saw MJ's ad on TV. I was skeptical at first. My friend will be disappointed that MJ isn't reliable enough for her, but I do think it'll work for me, as I mostly communicate by email and don't make or get a lot of calls at home. $40 for the hardware and $20 for a year's service isn't a huge loss if it doesn't work. I pay that much *each month* for unlimited calling now!

Magic Jack is a scam. It didn't work for me. So I return the product back to Target Apri 1st 2010 got a refund, but notice on my bank statement that I was charged $40 from Magic Jack on May 22, 2010. My bank contacted Magic Jack representative, she kept saying that the last time I used Magic Jack was on June 21, 2010. I informed her that I return Magic Jack on April 1st, which the bank representative knew. And that I was making international calls, which I only know people in my state. The Magic Jack representative was trying any and every thing not to give me a refund.
The Happy Ending is that my bank gave me my $40 credit immediately. So, beware....if it sounds to good to be true. DON'T BUY IT! Cause it's a SCAM!

I bought a MagicJack device a few days ago: installation went smooth, I connected my 2-line phone, I selected a Canadian local number, I added a balance for International calling and I called Europe! Great connection! I added my cell phone as well and now I call Europe for $0.02 on my cell!!! (plus local airtime).
I am going to use this number for my new business. When I am on the road I use the free call-forwarding.
Oh yeah: I added Magicsilence to prevent the popup.
I was skeptical first, but I thought the 39.95 was worth a try. Well, it is more than worth a try.
There are unofficial forums and people are writing software for it. This will change telephoning the North America unless the big guys prevent it... (I hope not!)

It just happened with me too, this is soooooooooooo stupid, i hate this company, told me that i used it excessively, what should i do???? count my mints when i call some one and its NOT allowed to receive unlimited calls, what kind of stupidity is this??????????????????
Your are limited to available area codes, you also are limited to the number of calls you may make or receive per day via there (TOS).

i think if magic jack is customers friendly user the tech would surely support the user and gives basic information on how to fix it..but with the different infos that i gathered on how to fix it?it gotten more worse with the method..im sick and tired in fixing this infact i wanted to throw this magic jack usb..
Not telling you that your changing phone companies, if you have them use your land-line number (Hey, it's a computer program, not a telephone company), charging both the full $20 for the year even when we went back to our original phone company (they did tell me there was a no-refund thing, so that was expected) one month later PLUS charge another $30, when our phone company had to do all the work to change it back, isn't a scam, either? Artistically "forgetting" we already paid for 5 years of their service, but they tend to have lost that knowledge, when I questioned them about the $30, and simply disconnected us all together. Stealing money out of our checking account after we asked them what they're charging us for (and being promised an e-mail that never came to the right e-mail address), isn't a scam? So far they've taken out $17.64 from our account - one dollar at a time, and told us they plan on taking another $30+ out tomrrow. Can I have you're checking account info too so, I "won't scam you" either?
Sure, it works, sometimes, but the way they treat their customers if anything changes IS. It works, sometimes, but when it gets down to basic customer service, trust me, it gets no scammier!

Magicjack is a scam and here is why! For everybody out there who are currently enjoying your so called unlimited calling service through magicjack, may I warn you that that will not last you! I promise you that sooner or later, when you logged in enough hours on your magicjack, you will be surprised one day when you will find out that your magicjack does not work anymore! When you try to call someone, you will hear a voice prompt telling you to dial this number 214-884-5124. That is the only help desk number that the magicjack company has! And here's the funny part; you cannot use a magicjack to call their own help desk number! I mean what kind of a company magicjack is when you can't even use their product to call them? Want proof? If you have a magicjack, go ahead and call the number I have mentioned and see how far you'll get! That is just rediculus!!! On their website they have a 24/7 tech support only via chat room, but I guarantee you these boneheads will not help you one bit with this problem! And why did this problem occured in the first place? Well, I was told by one of their boneheaded chat tech support that according to them, I used my magicjack excessively! And thats the unlimited calling they advertised for you! So all you magicjack users, I guarantee you sooner or later you will get to this point! Consider yourselves lucky; atleast you guys were warned!
